Abstract
This Act provides with respect to qualification and registration of veterinary and para-veterinary professions. It also provides for control of the conduct of veterinarian or veterinary para-professional practice and disciplinary powers of the Council. The Act establishes the Veterinary Association of Zambia as a body corporate. The Association shall principally register veterinary and veterinary para-professionals, and regulate their professional conduct. The Veterinary Council of Zambia (successor to the Board of Veterinary Surgery) shall principally license public and private animal health facilities and monitor quality control and assurance of animal health facilities and services and participate in the development of veterinary practice standard setting. The Council shall appoint a Registrar, who shall be the chief executive officer of the Council. A person shall not practise as a veterinary surgeon or veterinary para-professional, unless that person is registered as a veterinary surgeon or veterinary para-professional in accordance with this Act.
