Animal Health (National Animal Research Ethics Committee) Regulations, 2021 (S.I. 246 of 2021).

These Regulations are made in terms of section 5 of the Animal Health Act [Chapter 19:01], read with section 7 of the Scientific Experiments on Animals Act [Chapter 19:12], and section 16 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act [Chapter 19:09]. Part II establishes the National Animal Research Ethics Committee and lays down its functions which includes considering applications for research proposals, issuing research ethics certificate, carrying out inspections, approving shipment of biological samples outside Zimbabwe etc. It also makes provisions for the meetings and procedure of committee. Part III provides for application for research ethics certificate, conditions for grant thereof and related matters. Part IV allows for appeals from decisions of the committee and offences by holders of research ethics certificate.
