Abstract
The present Decision concerns environmental monitoring, i.e. the programme of systematic measurement, observation and reporting of environmental indicators. The latter are defined as the variables which give information on a particular environmental phenomenon and make it perceptible by assigning it to a numerical value for purposes of measurement and communication.
