Abstract
This Law concerns all matters relating to growing, reproduction, spreading and quality control of planting material. It consists of 27 articles establishing the requirements to be satisfied in order to perform the aforementioned activities. It provides for vegetative planting material of all sorts of cultivated plants, including forestry and edible cultivated mushrooms. Trading of planting material is allowed under licence according to articles 3 and 6 of this Law and in the cases listed in article 9. The National Seed Institute is entitled to carry out the control on quality standards and protection of genetic material.

This Law revokes Law No. 7225 of 22 June 1988 on the production of fruit-seeds and seedlings, and all provisions contrary to it.Proclaimed by Decree No. 439 of 26 January 1993.
