Abstract
The objectives of the present Act are, inter alia, to make available to the people of Austria high quality electricity at a reasonable price; to continue to increase the big part of renewable energy in the Austrian energy production; to take into consideration the safety of the production, the guarantee of supply, and above all the environmental compatibility. The Act lays down provisions for electricity companies, regardless of their ownership and legal form. It also aims to create a market organization in accordance with EU primary law and the principles of the internal electricity market. The Act contains provisions on accounting, internal organization, unbundling and transparency in the accounting of electricity companies. It also regulates the system usage charge and defines rights and obligations for electricity companies. In addition, provisions are defined for the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity as well as the organization of the electricity industry. The Act consists of 114 Articles divided into 15 Parts.
