Nature Conservation (Animals) Regulation 2020.

The Nature Conservation (Animals) Regulation 2020 is organized in the following Chapters: Chapter 1 Introduction; Chapter 2 Classification and categorisation of animals, declared management intent and conservation values; Chapter 3 Dealing with animals generally; Chapter 4 Dealing with animals under animal authorities; Chapter 5 Managing animal authorities; Chapter 6 Marine mammals; Chapter 7 Other offences; Chapter 8 Records, returns of operations and approved tags; Chapter 9 Fees Chapter 10 Miscellaneous; Chapter 11 Administrative provisions; Chapter 12 Repeals and transitional provisions. The Regulation also includes 7 Schedules, that provide for classification of animals and declared management intent, conservation value for protected animals, categories of animals, information om marine mammals and processed products.
The purpose of Chapter 2 is to prescribe classes of wildlife and provide for the declared management intent applying to each class of animal, and to provide for the categorization of animals for applying provisions of this regulation and prescribe their conservation value under section 95 of the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (the Act). Chapter 3 regulates authorizations of particular persons to carry out particular activities in relation to particular animals regardless of whether those persons hold animal authorities and states out the requirements. Chapter 4 and 5 impose restrictions and conditions on the grant of animal authorities and regulate authorizations of persons that have been granted animal authorities to carry out particular activities. Chapter 6 is dedicated to marine mammals and establishes special management areas, identifies special marine mammals, provides for restrictions on dealing with marine mammals such as no approach zones and caution zones.
