Abstract
This Regulation concerns the exploration, exploitation and conveying of petroleum and fuel gas in the State of Queensland. It consists of seven Chapters divided into 176 sections: Preliminary (1); Exploring for and producing petroleum (2); Safety provisions relating to coal mining (3); Pipelines (4); Fuel gas (5); Miscellaneous (6); Transitional and saving provisions (7).
Chapter 3 prescribes requirements about exploring for or producing petroleum to ensure those activities do not adversely affect the safe and efficient mining or future mining of coal. Chapter 5 prescribes in detail safety requirements in relation to fuel gas networks, automotive LPG sites, etc. Chapter 6 contains provisions on fees, rents and royalites. The Regulation is completed by twelve Schedules dealing with different issues such as: Mandatory and preferred standards for safety requirements; incidents; Requirements for plugging and abandoning petroleum wells and bores; fees, etc.

Entry into force notes
Ss 1–2 of this Regulation enter into force on 17 December 2004. S 58 on 1 July 2005 (see s 2(1)). Remaining provisions on 31 December 2004.
