Abstract
The purpose of this Act, consisting of 140 Sections divided into 13 Parts and completed by two Schedules, is to provide a framework for sustainable forest management and sustainable timber harvesting in State forests, and it amends consequently the Forests Act 1958 and the Conservation, Forests and Lands Act 1987. The Act sets the principles for sustainable forest management (Part 2), provides for the management of forests and timber resources (Parts 3 and 5), the licensing system (Part 4), timber harvesting (Parts 6 and 7), fire prevention and suppression (Part 8) and for its enforcement (Part 9).
