Abstract
This Act, consisting of 104 sections divided into nine Parts and completed by four Schedules, aims to encourage competition in relation to the supply of water and the provision of sewerage services and to facilitate the development of infrastructure for the production and reticulation of recycled water. Part 2 specifies the licensing requirements for network operators and retail suppliers; Part 3 deals with the access to infrastructure services; Part 4 lists the sewer mining conditions; Part 5 establishes the operation for water retail market; Part 6 deals with the work relating to water industry infrastructure; Part 7 specifies offences and penalties; Part 8 establishes functions of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART). Schedules list Scheduled areas; Regulation-making powers; Savings, transitional and other provisions.
