Abstract
This Decree defines the rules for the calculation of the total share of energy that derives from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy and the consumption of biofuels and renewable energy in transport, also by taking into account the electricity generated by hydroelectric and wind power plants.
The targets for the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy are: mandatory national target, intermediate national targets and sectoral targets.
The mandatory national target of the Republic of Bulgaria by 2020 is 16% of the total share of the energy from renewable sources in the gross final energy consumption. Section II determines the method for calculation of the total share of electricity, heat and cooling from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption; Section V set the method for calculation of the share of biofuels and energy from renewable sources in transport.
This Decree also introduces the requirements of the Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and amending and subsequently repealing Directives 2001/77/EC and 2003/30/EC.
