Abstract
This Regulation defines the necessary official control measures applied by the National Veterinary Service as regards the monitoring of substances and groups of residues in live animals, raw materials and foodstuffs of animal origin, intended for human consumption.
This text further determines the requirements for self-control systems for owners of animals, raw materials and animal origin food; adds the reference to the Council Regulation (EEC) No 2377/90 of 26 June 1990 laying down a Community procedure for the establishment of maximum residue limits of veterinary medicinal products in foodstuffs of animal origin (see articles 3 and 25); to the Regulation (EC) No 1774/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 3 October 2002 laying down health rules concerning animal by-products not intended for human consumption (see article 33); and to the Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on official controls performed to ensure the verification of compliance with feed and food law, animal health and animal welfare rules (see article 46).
The National Veterinary Service shall develop, organize and coordinate the implementation of their annually residue national monitoring programme (aimed at controlling the possible presence of the residues as listed in the Annex 1 of this publication; and controlling all stages of production and processing).
