Regulation No. 2 of 23 January 2008 on materials and plastic articles intended to come into contact with food.

This Regulation provides for specific requirements for materials and articles, including active and intelligent materials and plastic articles that are intended and designated to come into contact with food or foodstuff.
This text further sets out lists of authorized substances for the production of plastic materials and articles; the purity of substances and specific conditions for their use; permissible levels of migration of low-molecular-weight substances from materials and articles into or on foodstuffs with which they come into contact; and determines the rules for the control of materials and objects, as well as of substances from which they are made, including the rules on labelling and marking of such materials and/or objects.
The Annex is also part of this publication (containing the list of authorized monomers and other starting materials for the production of materials and articles; list of permitted additives for the production of materials and articles; list of additives whose compliance with the specific migration standards is established in accordance with the requirements of article 11, paragraph 7; list of specifications for certain substances of Annexes 1 and 2 used for the manufacture of plastic materials and articles; list of conditions for determining general and specific migration; and other technical sheets and related lists).
