Abstract
This Act provides for the management and conservation of fisheries resources in Brunei Darussalam.
The Act appoints a Director of Fisheries and a Deputy Director of Fisheries who shall authorize any officer to carry out the provisions of this Act. Powers of Authorized Officers will include: stop, search and detain any vessel or vehicle used for fishing or carrying fish contrary to the provisions of this Act; search and examine fishing gear; etc.
The Act further provides for: regulation making powers of the Minister relating to fishing and fisheries; powers of licensing officers and issuance of licences; offences and penalties; etc.

An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to fisheries and to make provision for matters incidental thereto.
Entry into force notes
This Act entered into force on 5 March 1973.
Notes
In exercise of the power conferred on the Director of Fisheries by section 4(2) of the Fisheries Act, the identification card set out in the Schedule is prescribed as the identification card for the purposes of that section.
