Law No. 17.373 providing for the inspection and sanitary and industrial inspection of products of animal origin in the State of São Paulo.

This Law, consisting of 37 articles divided into four Chapters, provides for the industrial and sanitary monitoring and inspection of products of animal origin in the State of São Paulo. Industrial and sanitary monitoring and inspection activities of edible and inedible products of animal origin will be carried out, within the State of São Paulo, by the São Paulo Inspection Service (Serviço de Inspeção de São Paulo - SISP), linked to the Coordination of Agricultural Defense of the Department of Agriculture and Supply (Coordenadoria de Defesa Agropecuária da Secretaria de Agricultura e Abastecimento - CDA), complying with this law and the applicable federal legislation. These activities will be governed by the principles of animal health protection, preservation of the environment and protection of public health and animal welfare and must observe the powers provided for in Federal Law No. 1.283 of 18 December 1950 and in the National Health Surveillance System (SNVS). Domestic, wild and exotic animals destined for slaughter, as well as meat, fish, milk, eggs, bee products and their respective derivatives, are subject to the strict inspection provided for in this law.
