Law No. 20.608 creating the State Policy on Food Acquisition of Family Farming (PAAFamiliar).

This Law, consisting of 11 articles, as amended, creates the State Policy on Food Acquisition of Family Farming (PAAFamiliar) dedicated to family farmers and family farmers organizations. These Family farmers are those who live in rural areas and meets the requirements established by article 3 of the Federal Law No. 11.326. The objectives of PAAFamiliar are: to promote the organization and modernization of production and improve the flow of products from family farms; to stimulate the production of family farming, contributing to the practice of appropriate prices and expansion of consumption of their products market; to encourage the purchase of products from family farming in purchases made by state agencies; to encourage the consumption of healthy and sustainable food that valorise local and regional food culture.
