Law No. 5.280 establishing the State Policy for Sustainable Aquaculture.

This Law provides the State Policy for the Sustainability of Aquaculture. The policy aims at promoting: I - the sustainability of aquaculture as a source of food, employment, income and leisure, in harmony with the preservation and conservation of the environment and biodiversity; II - the organisation and supervision of aquaculture activities; III - the preservation, conservation and recovery of aquatic ecosystems; and IV - the socio-economic, cultural and professional development of those people who carry out aquaculture activities, as well as their communities. The environmental licensing of aquaculture activities in the state of Rondônia is now governed by this Law, without prejudice to compliance with the provisions of other national and state legislation. In addition to the provisions of this law, the environmental licensing of aquaculture ventures located in waters under the domain of the Federal Government shall comply with the specific rules for obtaining authorization to use physical spaces in bodies of water under the domain of the Federal Government.
