Abstract
This Law, consisting of 119 articles divided into six Titles approves the Consumer Protection Code. This Code establishes standards of protection and defense of the consumer, of public order and social interest, according to the Federal Constitution. The National Policy on Consumer Relations aims to meet consumer needs, respect for their dignity, health and safety, protection of their economic interests, improvement of their quality of life, as well as transparency and harmony, by guaranteeing the products and services with appropriate standards of quality, safety, durability and performance. The protection of life, health and safety against the risks caused by practices in the supply of products and services considered dangerous or harmful are basic consumer rights. Offences and penalties are specified in the text.
Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force 180 days after its publication.
