Resolution ANP No. 21 establishing the requirements to be met by the rights' holders of Exploitation and Production of Oil and Natural Gas.

This Resolution, consisting of 30 articles and 2 Annexes, establishes the requirements to be met by the rights' holders of Exploitation and Production of Oil and Natural Gas, in order to implement the technique of Hydraulic Fracturing in Unconventional Reservoir. The operator shall establish and guarantee the fulfillment of an Environmental Management System that meets the Best Practices of the Oil Industry. The Environmental Management System must contain a detailed plan of control, treatment and disposal of wastewater generated from the drilling and Hydraulic Fracturing in Unconventional Reservoir activities. The water used should preferably be effluent generated, unsafe or low acceptance water for human or animal consumption, or resulting from industrial or domestic waste water.
