Resolution No. 10 of the Ministry of Forestry “On the procedure for management of forest fund areas”.

Rules for the management of forest fund areas for the purposes of holding cultural and health, tourist, other recreational and (or) mass events sports and physical culture have as their scope to satisfy the needs of citizens for recreation and health improvement in nature with the rational use of recreational resources of forests, maintaining and strengthening their ecosystem functions. The boundaries of forest fund areas provided for forest management for the aforesaid purposes are, as a rule, combined with natural contours, quarter clearings, shorelines of waterbodies, boundaries of taxation allotments or other clearly marked dividing lines on the ground, recorded in cartographic materials. Forest management is carried out for the purposes of restoration, improvement of the forest environment, therapeutic exercise, phytotherapy, familiarization with objects of natural and historical-cultural heritage, environmental education, recreation, participation in competitions in certain sports. For the implementation of forest management, the following can be organized: (a) walks in the forest, organized recreation near waterbodies and in the forest; (b) skiing, cycling tourism; (c) sports events (including cross-country, triathlon), forest and sports orienteering, tourist and other gatherings; (c) arrangement of ecological trails; (d) familiarization with objects of natural and historical-cultural heritage in forests; and (e) familiarization and observation of representatives of the animal and plant world in natural conditions.
