Abstract
This Law establishes that Forest Fund (public forest) shall include forests growing on land of forest fund and land of other categories, and also forested land, unforested land within the boundaries of Forest Fund, and land of other categories allotted for forest management. Forests shall be exclusive property of the state. Forest products procured and collected in accordance with the modalities envisaged by acting legislation shall be property of the persons who procured and collected it. Any transaction violating (restricting) the right of ownership of the Republic of Belarus related to forests shall be prohibited. Basic principles of management, protection and reforestation shall be as follows: (a) rational (sustainable) use of forest resources; (b) conservation and strengthening of protection and recreational forests; (c) forest ecosystem conservation; (d) priority of reforestation over forest management practices; (e) payment for forest uses, except for cases envisaged by this Law and other legislative acts; and (f) free access and free stay of citizens in forest.
