The present Act establishes that by the beginning of 2018, producers, processors and handlers of organic food and beverage products, including farm gate sales, farmers markets and retail stores, will require documentation verifying their products have accredited organic certification. The transition time to September 2018 allows non-certified producers who wish to continue to market their products as “organic” time to complete the certification process.
