Abstract
This Regulation governs the transportation of livestock. It specifies that animals should not suffer unduly during transportation and prohibits crowding (sect. 3) and sets requirements for loading facilities and pens (sect. 5). The Regulation prescribes which are the duties of operators (sect. 6) and the requirements for vehicles (sect. 7). The Regulation also contains provisions on sanitary conditions and prohibits the use of instruments that might cause injury to livestock during loading and unloading operations. Section 11 provides for inspections for the purpose of ensuring compliance with this Regulation.

For the purpose of ensuring its revision, this Regulation expires on 31 October 2008.

This Regulation repeals the Livestock Transportation Regulation (AR 76/95).The present Regulation is consolidated up to 243/2007.
