Abstract
The objects and purposes of this Act are to provide for, encourage and facilitate the safe and efficient development, and the maximum economic recovery, of the oil, gas, helium and oil shale resources of the province in accordance with the principles of sustainable development; to prevent the waste of oil, gas, helium and oil share resources, to protect the correlative rights of owners; to provide for the safe and efficient construction and operation of pipelines; and to provide for the safe and efficient development and operation of storage reservoirs (sect. 2).
The Act consists of 243 sections and is divided into the following parts: Interpretation, objects and purposes application; Administration; Oil and gas conservation board; Dispositions; Registration of transfer and instruments; Oil and gas lease agents; Geophysical operations; Well licences; Oil and gas production and conservation; Pooling orders; Unit operations; Flow lines and pipelines; Storage reservoirs; Performance security; Enforcement; Royalties; Collection; Records and reports confidential information; Offences and penalties; General provisions; Transitional; Consequential amendments; and Repeals, citation and coming into force.
