Abstract
The present Cantonal Ordinances ensures the implementation of federal legislation concerning water protection in general; inter alia, it implements the Federal Law on protection of waters of 24 January 1991. Its main purpose is to define the competences of the Canton, districts and townships and related financing. The control of all waters existing in the canton is part of the sovereign right of the Council of the Canton which is entitled to make agreements with other cantons and private bodies in order to put into execution the federal and cantonal water legislation. According to article 10, the local township shall work out a general waste water plan compatible with those of neighbouring townships. The plan, which shall indicate the present state of waters in the region, shall serve as basis for the waste water disposal plan to be approved by the Canton. The text consists of 54 articles divided into 7 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Effluent waste water discharge from domestic source (II); Protection plans (III); Further protective measures (IV); Financing (V); Proceedings (VI); Penalties, transitional and final provisions (VII).
Entry into force notes
The present Ordinance enters into force on 1 January 2001.
