Abstract
The present Law implements the Federal Energy Act of 26 June 1998. Article 1 establishes that the Law regulates the activities and powers of the canton in the field of energy policy. Furthermore, the Law creates a framework for the economical and efficient use of energy, as well as the use of renewable energies. Buildings and equipment shall be designed, built and operated in such a way that power is used sparingly and rationally. The text consists of 23 articles divided into 6 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Energy saving measures in buildings and plants (II); Promotion (III); Provisions on electricity supply (IV); Fees and penalties (V); Transitional provisions (VI); Final provisions (VII).

The present Law enters into force on 24 June 2002.
