Abstract
This Ordinance establishes the cantonal implementation of the Federal Act on Foodstuffs and Utility Articles (LMG) in Appenzell Innerrhoden, with a strong emphasis on food safety controls, inspection structures and hygiene‑related enforcement. It designates the Executive Body (Standeskommission) as supervisory authority and assigns direct oversight to the Health and Social Department (for the cantonal chemist) and the Land and Forestry Department (for the cantonal veterinarian). The Intercantonal Laboratory and the Veterinary Office serve as enforcement bodies, coordinating data and activities for food safety monitoring. The ordinance regulates meat inspection, including appointment of control organs, reporting of violations, procedures for slaughtering sick animals and emergency slaughters, and separation and cooling of carcasses pending assessment. It provides rules for drinking‑water testing, publication of results, and hygiene standards for public baths. Fees for official acts follow federal law and a cantonal tariff based on workload points.
