The principal Law and the present Law shall be read as one and will be referred to as the Food (Control and Sale) Laws 1996-2010.The law is issued with the purpose of a better implementation of article 4, paragraphs 3, 5 and 6 and of article 54 to Regulation (EC) No. 882/2004 as was last amended by Commission Regulation (EC) No 1029/2008. The law aims as well at ensuring more accurate controls on imported foodstuffs at the entry points of the Cypriot Republic and also aims at amending Annex III to the principal law so as to better implement the EU Regulations as regards the imposition of penalties and sanctions if their provisions are trespassed. Under this light, the law brings forth the following amendments: articles 2, 14, 16A and 17 are amended and/or replaced while the new article 17B (right to appeal) is added.
