Law No. 25 (III) of 2025 on the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships and Related Matters (Ratification).

This Law ratifies the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships and Related Matters, whose original text is provided in the English language in Part I of the Schedule and in a Greek translation in Part II of the Schedule. The Law also defines the following relevant terms: waste management permit; required certification; recycling companies; Cypriot and foreign ships. The Law identifies the competent authority for the implementation of the provisions of the Convention, and specifies general compliance obligation and prohibitions in relation to ship recycling. The Law details administrative fines in relation to ships, legal actions to collect administrative fines and other debts, offences and penalties and the Ministerial power to issue Decrees to regulate technical and administrative matters.
