Abstract
The purpose of the law is to prevent the generation of packaging waste, to reduce the heavy metals contents in packaging and to enhance reduction of packaging waste disposal by re-use, recovery and recycling. The Law covers all packaging placed on the market and all packaging waste, whether it is used or released at industrial, commercial, household or any other level, in spite of the materials used. It sets forth essential requirements and deals with standardization, criteria and methodologies for life-cycle analysis of packaging, criteria for recycling methods, criteria for composting methods and produced compost, criteria for the marking of packaging.

Entry into force notes
The law shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette. Articles 11 and 20 shall enter into force by Ministerial Decisions.
