Abstract
These Regulations, issued in pursuance to paragraph (c) of subsection (2) of article 4 the Chemical Substances Law no. 119 of 2020, provide for a better implementation of articles 3 to 9 of the Regulation (EU) no. 2017/852 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2017 on mercury and repealing Regulation (EC) no. 1102/2008. The Regulations concern: offences and penalties for any person who: exports and imports mercury, mercury compounds and mixtures in violation of the provision of the European Regulation; imports mercury for use in artisanal and small-scale gold mining and related processing for gold extraction; exports, imports and produces products with added mercury; uses mercury in production processes, and proceeds to temporary storage of mercury and mercury products, in violation of the provision of the European Regulation; produces and makes available on the market products with added mercury, not produced or processed before January 1, 2018.
