Abstract
The aim of this Act is to prevent and reduce the impact of certain plastic products on the environment, in particular the aquatic environment, and on human health, as well as to promote the transition to a circular economy with innovative and sustainable business models, products and materials. The Act applies to plastic products listed in the Annex, regardless of whether they are marketed separately or as a part or accessory of other products. The present Act regulates: (a) rules for preventing waste from plastic products; (b) rights and obligations of manufacturers when placing plastic products on the market; (c) rights and obligations related to the management of waste from plastic products; (d) administrative authorities in the area of preventing the generation of waste from plastic products and in the area of rights and obligations related to the management of waste from plastic products. Measures to reduce the environmental impact of plastic products include: prohibition of marketing specified products, keeping records of the quantity of plastic products placed on the market, labeling of plastic products, carrying out educational activities aimed at informing the end user and changing consumer behavior in order to reduce the amount of waste from selected plastic products, and reimbursement of municipal costs by the manufacturer.
