Abstract
This Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is composed of seven paragraphs and one Annex, lays down, in accordance with European Union legislation, quantities and types of extraction solvents, conditions of their use for food production and groups of foodstuffs in which these substances may be present. For the purposes of this Decree extraction solvent is defined as the substance used for the dissolution of foodstuffs or their components, including all contaminants present in food or on food surface, used during processing of raw materials, foodstuffs or their components and which may be removed but may lead to unintentional but technically unavoidable occurrence of residues or derivatives in food. Par. 4 defines requirements for packaging and labeling of extraction solvents. Annex 1 specifies extraction solvents permitted for the production of foodstuffs with conditions of their use and maximum permitted levels of residues.
