Abstract
The present Act introduces some major amendments to the Genetic Technology Act in its consolidated version of 16 December 1993 (BGBl. I p. 2066). In particular, the Act rewords article 5 on Tasks of the Commission; article 8 on Authorization, notification and registration of installations working with genetically modified material; article 12 on Notification and registration procedures; article 16e on Exceptions for planting materials not liable to be labelled; article 31 on Competent authorities in general and competent federal authorities in particular.
The present Act introduces also some amendments to the Genetic Engineering Implementation Act of 22 June 2004 (BGBl. I p. 1244). In particular, the Act adds article 3a on Requirements for labelling of products not genetically modified; article 3b on Proof for labelling of foodstuffs not genetically modified. The Act adds also an Annex.
Furthermore, the present Act introduces some amendments to the New Foodstuffs and New Ingredients Ordinance in its consolidated version of 14 February 2000 (BGBl. I p. 123). In particular, the Act rewords the title of the Ordinance; and adds small amendments to articles 7 and 8.
