Abstract
The present Ordinance is contained in article 1 of the Ordinance of 29 January 1998 (BGBl. I 230) on the re-organization of food additives provisions. In particular, it regulates the admission of additives in foodstuffs. The Ordinance contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed, such as for example "untreated foodstuffs", "maximum quantity of additives", " additives without sugar", etc. Thereafter, the Ordinance deals with issues such as colouring agents, sweetening substances, other additives, additives for infant food, maximum additive limits, packing and labelling. Article 10 deals with penalties in case of violations. The text consists of 10 articles and 7 Annexes.
Moreover, the present Ordinance amends the Ordinance on eggs of 17 December 1993 (BGBl. I p. 2288); the Ordinance on butter of 3 February 1997 (BGBl. I p. 144); the Ordinance on mineral waters of 1 August 1984 (BGBl. I p. 1036) and the Ordinance on extraction substances of 8 November 1991 (BGBl. I p. 2100).
