Abstract
This Act provides regulations for animal protection in Germany. Its main objective is to prevent animal suffering and cruelty while ensuring that animals are treated in a human and species-appropriate manner. The Act applies to all animals and covers aspects such as housing, transportation, medical treatment, and slaughter. It prohibits unnecessary harm, pain, or distress to animals and sets regulations for animal testing, farming, and pet ownership. The Act establishes penalties for violations, including fines and imprisonment for severe cases of animal cruelty. It also mandates official supervision of animal welfare through authorities and veterinary offices. Additionally, the Act aligns with EU regulations and international standards, reinforcing Germany’s strong commitment to animal rights and ethical treatment. The Act consists of 22 Articles divided into 12 Parts.
