Abstract
The present Ordinance on Plant Inspection implements various EC directives on the same subject. Moreover, it provides regulations for the inspection of plants. At the outset the Ordinance contains a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed such as planting , protected area , third country , trade within the community , transit . Article 3 establishes an import ban for plants and plant products befallen by harmful organisms from non-member countries. Certain plants may only be marketed within the community if they are accompanied by a plant pass. The text consists of 18 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Import and transit from non-member countries (II); Trade within member-countries (III); Special regulations relating to trade in protected areas.
