Act No. 700 on the supply of technical water.

This Act regulates the supply of technical water in Denmark, meaning water supplied for non-drinking purposes. Its purpose is to protect water consumers economically, allow municipalities to provide technical water in an economically appropriate way, promote the use of alternative water sources such as reused treated wastewater, reducing pressure on drinking-water resources. It defines technical water supply activities, technical water companies, and municipal technical water companies; requires written supply agreements stating that the water is not for drinking use; regulates the relationship between ordinary water companies and technical water companies; and sets rules on how municipalities may own and organise such companies. It also restricts municipal subsidies and loan guarantees, allows certain capital contributions, establishes reporting and set-off rules for municipal proceeds, gives oversight powers to the Water Sector Supervision Authority, provides for fees and penalties, and amends related legislation on water, environmental protection, municipal grants, electricity, heat supply, and CO₂ capture.
