Order No. 1474 on dairy products, etc.

This Order regulates the production, composition, product designations and supplementary labelling of dairy products, including cheese, cheese products, butter, concentrated milk-fat products, preserved milk products, caseins and caseinates, non-fermented drinking milk products, and fermented milk products. It defines key dairy categories and sets rules on permitted ingredients, milk types, fat and protein content, cheese consistency and ripening designations, use of characteristic cheese names, requirements for processed cheese, butter and milk preserves, and specific compositional standards for products such as condensed milk, milk powder, casein, yoghurt, kefir, buttermilk, crème fraîche and ymer. It also requires labelling of matters such as milk type, fat content, homogenisation, lactose modification, and products not intended for infants under 12 months, and authorises the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration to issue export health certificates for milk and dairy products. The Order implements and supplements EU rules on preserved milk, caseins and caseinates, and the common organisation of agricultural markets, provides penalties for non-compliance, and allows products already placed on the market or labelled under certain previous provisions to continue being marketed until stocks are exhausted.
