Order No. 1502 on fruit juice, etc.

This Order regulates the production, composition, product designations and supplementary labelling requirements for fruit juice, fruit juice from concentrate, concentrated fruit juice, water-extracted fruit juice, dehydrated or powdered fruit juice, fruit nectar and reduced-sugar fruit juice products. It restricts the ingredients, raw materials and processing methods that may be used, establishes rules on reserved product names, fruit identification, use of terms such as “from concentrate” or “partly from concentrate”, minimum fruit content declarations for nectars, claims concerning natural or no added sugar, and botanical names or Brix levels for certain products. The annexes define the covered products and raw materials, set special requirements for fruit nectars and reconstituted juices, and list permitted special designations such as sweetened or sour fruit juice. The Order implements EU rules on fruit juices and similar products intended for human consumption, provides penalties for non-compliance, and allows products lawfully placed on the market or labelled before that date to continue being marketed until stocks are exhausted.
