Abstract
The Danish AgriFish Agency may grant subsidies to owners and tenants of farms in order to convert agricultural land into organic farming under the authorization of the Danish AgriFish Agency. Conditions to operate organic agricultural products include that these farming areas are not afforested, that they are not eligible for forestry or buffer zones subsidy, for the conservation of wetlands which have been driven with organic agricultural production for at least 5 years prior to application, that they are not forest reserves, except for non-vegetated protected forest areas. The period of the agreement shall begin on 1 September in the year of application and shall terminate on 31 August five years afterwards. The purpose of the conversion include the utilization of areas for agricultural purposes as land-rotation, as permanent grass, for fruit or berry production, and for non-food production or fallow. Calculation of subsidy is equivalent to 1 050 DKK/hectar.
