Order No. 986 on supplementary provisions to the Regulation on batteries and waste batteries.

This Order supplements EU Regulation 2023/1542 on batteries and waste batteries in Denmark, applying to batteries covered by that Regulation and designating the Danish Environmental Protection Agency as the competent authority. It requires producers of portable batteries and batteries for light means of transport to appoint an approved producer responsibility organisation, establishes rules on the digital producer register administered by Dansk Producentansvar, and regulates registration, battery categorisation, contracts with collection points, approval of extended producer responsibility arrangements, guarantees for waste-management obligations, reporting of battery quantities and data-sharing with the Environmental Protection Agency. It also sets rules on graduated financial contributions to producer responsibility organisations based on design criteria such as recycled content, rechargeability and remanufacture; public information duties; self-monitoring by producers and producer responsibility organisations; fees payable to Dansk Producentansvar and the Environmental Protection Agency; document retention, administrative cooperation, supervision, complaints and penalties.
