Abstract
The present Regulation lays down some amendments and addenda to Regulation (EC) No. 1091/94 relative to the protection of forests against atmospheric pollution. In particular, articles 1(2), 1(3) and 1(4) are hereby replaced. In compliance with new article 1(2), on the permanent observation plots intensive and continuous surveillance of the forest ecosystems shall be carried out. This contains the continuous inventory on the crown condition, the inventory of soil and foliar condition and measurements on increment changes, deposition rates, meteorology and soil solution sampling and analysis in accordance with objective sampling methods and analysed in accordance with established methods.
Moreover, in article 2(1) the following indent is added: “- to carry out the sampling and analysis of soil solution.” Annex II, forms 2a and 2b, are replaced by Annex I; Annex III is amended in accordance with Annex II; Annex VIIa is amended as set out in Annex III; Annex VIIb is replaced by Annex IV; Annex V is added as Annex X.
