Abstract
Onions are among the products listed in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No. 2200/96 for which standards must be adopted. Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 2213/83 lays down quality standards for onions and witloof chicory. However, in the interest of clarity, the rules on onions shall be separated from those on other products under Regulation (EEC) No. 2213/83. Annex I to such Regulation, which is entirely devoted to standards applicable to onions, is hereby repealed. Hereinafter, the standards to be applied at all stages of marketing of onions shall be those laid down in the present Regulation. The Annex hereby attached is composed of the following six Parts: (I) Definition of produce; (II) Provisions concerning quality; (III) Provisions concerning sizing; (IV) Provisions concerning tolerances; (V) Provisions concerning presentation; (VI) Provisions concerning marking.
