Abstract
The present Decision has been adopted by the EC-Faeroe Islands Joint Committee in order to regulate the trade of live animals and animal products between the European Community, on the one hand, and the Faeroe Islands, on the other hand. The Faeroe Islands shall accept live animals and animal products originating in the European Community under the conditions laid down for intra-Community trade. The Decision regards the exchange of live animals and animal products, including fishery products (art. 9), bivalve molluscs (art. 10) as well as aquaculture products (art. 11). Checks shall be carried out both on live animals and animal products at border inspection posts. The Decision refers to the Community provisions to be applied in the field: Council Directives 89/662/EEC, 90/425/EEC, 91/493/EEC, 91/492/EEC and 92/48/EEC. In accordance with article 7, the Faeroe Islands shall take part in the computerized network which links veterinary authorities (the ANIMO information system). Article 11, paragraph 2 concerns the notification of diseases.
