Abstract
The present Act contains provisions about the Finnish Forest Agency, an independent public law institution and a development and implementation organization that covers the entire country and manages tasks related to the sustainable management and use of forests, as well as the preservation of forest biodiversity and the promotion of forest-based industries. The Forest Agency shall promote forest-based industries, implement forest legislation, and manage tasks related to forest data. It is under the supervision of the Ministry. Among its tasks are being responsible for planning and research tasks related to the sustainable management and use of forests; promoting nationwide and regional cooperation and functional collaboration within the forestry sector; advancing forest-based industries; providing education, advice, and information that supports forestry; monitor the state and development of forestry and forests; maintain preparedness regarding forest damage; participate in international cooperation; among others.
