Abstract
Section 59 concerns forfeiture in the case of a nature conservation violation (as defined in section 58). Whosoever is guilty of a violation referred to in section 58 shall be sentenced to forfeit to the State that which constitutes the object of the offence. In addition, the monetary value of a protected plant or animal as a representative of its species shall be forfeited. The Ministry of the Environment shall set standard monetary values for protected animals and plants. Otherwise, what is provided in chapter 10, sections 1-4 and 6-11, of the Penal Code (39/1889) shall apply where appropriate.
