Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on organic production and labelling and supervision of organic products (No. 846 of 2008).

This Decree implements in Finland Council Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007 on organic production and labelling of organic products and repealing Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91 and Commission Regulation (EC) No. 889/2008 laying down detailed rules for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007 on organic production and labelling of organic products with regard to organic production, labelling and control. It, in particular, applies to organically-produced agricultural products and food, i.e. agricultural products and foodstuffs which may bear the label referring to organic production in accordance with the Council Regulation.
The Decree, among other things: sets out requirements for the production of goods to which it applies; requires a register of organic propagating material to be kept by the Food protection Agency in accordance with Articles 48–56 of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 889/2008; provides for use of propagating material in organic production; provides with respect to incentives for ecological production; provides with respect to standards for animal and plant production; provides with respect to the register of organic production; provides for control and enforcement; and provides with respect to importation of organic products.
