Decree No. 1203 of 2001 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on the labeling of beef.

This Decree lays down detailed provisions concerning the labeling of beef required under Regulation (EC) No 1760/2000 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1825/2000, provides for the related official control and self-supervision as well as the approval of the labeling systems. Section 2 defines the relationship with other national legislation. Section 3 defines "beef". Public control shall be carried out by the National Food Agency, State Provincial Offices, and State Veterinary Officers for meat inspections. Section 8 concerns a compulsory beef labeling system.
