Abstract
These Regulations impose a general prohibition on vaccination of animals against avian influenza except where required by the Secretary of State. They also require the Secretary of State to declare vaccination zones and to serve vaccination notices in areas which it considers should be vaccinated to prevent the risk of the spread of avian influenza. Such measures can only be implemented where a risk assessment has been carried out which has indicated that there is a specific risk of avian influenza. The Regulations provide for measures applying in a vaccination zone or premises stipulated in a vaccination notice and for emergency vaccination.
