Abstract
These Regulations implement as respects Northern Ireland: (a) Council Directive 76/769/EEC, as amended; (b) Council Directive 83/477/EEC, as amended, (c) Council Directive 90/394/EEC; and (d) Council Directive 98/24/EC.
The Regulations, among other things: (a) introduce a new control limit common to all types of asbestos and lower than that applying previously to any; (b) provide for the measurement of the control limit by a method recommended by the 1997 World Health Organisation; and (c) prescribe various protective measures.
